South Dakota Update

Our break-a-thon fundraiser was an absolute success! The students from the local martial arts studio brought in almost $4,000 in donations for the chapter, with our only cost being the boards that the youth broke. We hope to make this a huge annual fundraiser for the chapter. Next year maybe we’ll break bricks?

We are in the very beginning stages of planning to expand our chapter from one county to possibly eight. This will fully take effect as I am placed into the chairman position. I honestly have begun to doubt my abilities to effectively lead the board during a major transition. I know in the back of my mind that I could if I put my heart and soul into it like I have my other positions, but it sounds like a lot of stress. If my board has faith in me, I think I can take on the challenge. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, it’s important to show the “adults” that you can handle tasks they think you can not. It’s time to follow my own advice.

Along with expanding our county, we are outgrowing our current office. We have begun to look for a larger space. The only reason that we do not want to move is that the city is giving us free rent for our current office; however, we need more room in order to function correctly, so we are probably going to be in a new office by this summer. We need to be ready for many changes in the near future. I will keep you updated!
