This year, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement celebrates a number of important anniversaries: the 60th of the Geneva Conventions, the 90th of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the 150th of the Movement itself (which started in Geneva, Switzerland).
As the founder of the Movement, Henri Dunant, said after witnessing a horrible battle:
All can, in one way or another, each in his own sphere and within his own limitations, do something to help the good work forward.
In the aftermath of the Battle of Solferino, Dunant took to the field to help wounded soldiers from both sides of the conflict.
Celebrate this exciting and important year by participating in an international community at ourworld-yourmove.org. Share your story. Learn about how you can make an impact in your community. Inspire others to volunteer!
