It is almost 4:00 am and we are standing outside in the middle of the field in the center of the Humanitarian Village. The March to Geneva / Journey of an Idea is about to begin!
It’s definitely a little bit surreal to be standing here in the dark, surrounded by almost 300 other Red Cross and Red Crescent youth leaders, with some people drumming quietly and others singing softly as they try to keep themselves awake. Most of us haven’t slept and we have to be at the Swiss border by 10 am so we don’t have time to have breakfast!
We’re just about to start out and the first hints of daylight are just beginning to show to the east. Bonne route!
