Sprague High School wins Red Cross Challenge

Who says adults are the only ones who donate the most blood?

Sprague High School in Salem, Oregon, won a regional American Red Cross blood donation challenge in which they donated the highest percentage of blood in their region among more than 100 high schools in Multnomah, Clark, Washington, Clackamas, Linn and Marion Counties.

Blood drives began to be held in Sprague around 2004, and the school has collected a cumulative total of 1,083 units of blood as of the 2010-11 academic school year. This is the fourth year the blood drive challenge has taken place to encourage students to donate monthly and over the summer.

Sprague High School students will be honored today for their efforts with a school wide pizza party and a celebratory trophy to be displayed at the school for one year. Congrats to Sprague!
