More on LDC

It’s that time of year again! The annual Leadership Development Center/ Camp (LDC) is a conference designed to build strong leaders and positive relationships among Red Cross youth. At LDC, youth will become trained community disaster educators, learn how to start a Red Cross Club, attend workshops about diversity and public speaking, and gain experience in team building, leadership roles, CPR and first aid, disaster and emergency preparedness, and international humanitarian law. These conferences are taking place all over the country all summer long.

I was fortunate enough to participate in the Community Leader Discussion this week at the LDC sponsored by the Bay Area Chapter and the Silicon Valley Chapter. We talked about what it means to be a leader and how to use leadership in our daily lives.

We welcome all the new youth who attended any LDC’s this summer into The Red Cross community.

  1. My daughter is president of the Southeast Texas Homeschool Red Cross Club. Is there going to be a LDC in the Houston area?

    Thank you,
    Amy Calcote

    • Hi there,

My name is Hanna Malak and I am on the National Youth Council for The American Red Cross. I noticed that you had a question about LDC in your area.

If you go to http://www.redcross.org/ you can enter your zip code and it will let you know the nearest Red Cross chapter/ region near you. You can inquire about LDC via them.

Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Thanks for all that you and your daughter do for The Red Cross.

      ~Hanna
