Thank you, Skip!
If you have any updates about what your/our local ARC clubs are doing please send them over!
Hope everything is well,
Alison.
Great list of activities for youth to get involved with ARC!
One minor correction about blood drives — the folks to coordinate with are the local ARC Blood Services Region in most cases, more than the local ARC Chapter. The reason is that Blood services has their own volunteer recruiting, and they have specialized staff to coordinate getting blood drives organized.
Regarding the competition aspect of blood drives, any group of schools with ARC clubs could hold one of these, it is a great way to engage school rivalries for the benefit of the larger community. With the USC/UCLA competition, they have a trophy that goes to the winning school for each time the competition is held, similar to what is done with some football and other sports with inter-school rivalries.
Hello Gary,
Thank you so much for your message and for correcting the information I distributed in my video. I have heard a great deal about the USC/UCLA blood drives competition and I would love to see it replicated at other universities in the country. If you have any other specific information about this competition, how to conduct a blood drive, etc. please forward it to me. I am always looking for helpful information to share with our blog readers!
Thank you again,
Alison.
