Save a Life…I Did
My name is Hailie Meyers and I am 17 years old. I first gave blood at my school during my sophomore year in high school. I was so nervous and scared that it would hurt or that I would pass out. I don’t have a fear of needles but I knew that the needle was big and I had seen bruises from friends that gave blood in the past so I was definitely terrified. I had my mom sign the paper and I stood proud and tall and did it anyways! The very first time I donated, I passed out! It was a scary feeling, but I felt so much better about myself afterwards. After that, I began receiving post cards in the mail telling me where the next blood drive would be. I loved that feeling! I went to every blood drive that I could and now I have donated blood 4 times. I love doing it, and I will donate every single chance that I get! Don’t be scared, just stand proud and know that you are saving a life.
