International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is coming this May 8!
In 2 days it will be International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day!
This holiday started in 1922. At that time, the Czechoslovakia Red Cross National Society proclaimed a three-day truce at Easter to promote peace. The goal is to recognize one day every year to advocate for the relief of human suffering from disease, and the humanity of seeing a world free from suffering due to war. Our humanitarian achievement includes a network of more than 13 million volunteers and assists more than 300 million people worldwide per year.
Our council members will be celebrating by proudly wearing Red Cross attire, hanging Red Cross silly bands across dorm rooms, and eating cake!
