NYC November Meeting Recap

Hello all!  The National Youth Council just finished our fall meeting this past weekend in Washington, D.C.  Considering we all live across the country, we meet up 3 times a year in person to discuss our goals and work on new projects.

On Friday, we had the chance to listen to awesome presentations from National Headquarters executives in the areas of Biomedical Services, Service to the Armed Forces, and International Services, and how youth are getting involved in those areas.  A big topic of discussion this day was the new High School Leadership Program produced by biomedical services.

On Saturday, the main focus was to work on a video promoting National Youth Involvement Month for the month of November, which you can read more about here on redcrossyouth.org! We’d really like to youth to focus on Preparedness, Service to the Armed Forces, Blood Services, and Fundraising during the month of November.  It was really fun making the video, since we got to show off our acting talents!

On Sunday, we talked about our future goals for the Council, and have decided that we would be focusing on promoting National Youth Involvement Month, plan for March is Red Cross Month, and come up with an idea for a national youth campaign!

It was a very productive meeting and I can’t wait to see how far we’ve come when we meet up again in April 2014!
