Meet Everyday Heroes: George Washington Red Cross Club
Since it’s establishment during the summer of 2013, the George Washington Red Cross Youth Club has done an outstanding job of representing the Red Cross in their school and the wider community of Denver, Colorado. One of the most impactful projects that the student club organized was a preparedness workshop for a community of Nepali/Bhutanese refugees living in Denver. The students prepared for this workshop by taking a Train-the-Trainer Be Red Cross Ready preparedness class and collaborating with two local non-profits who specifically serve refugee communities in the Metro Denver area. Approximately 15 individuals who are leaders in the community attended the workshop that was facilitated by the students. After a highly successful workshop in the Fall of 1013, the students are currently planning for their second preparedness workshop in the Spring 2014.
