National Young Professional Council seeks new members
The American Red Cross National Young Professionals Council (NYPC) seeks to fill up to seven seats on the Council and is soliciting applications from young professional volunteers to serve a two-year term that will begin July 1, 2015. Volunteers with field experience in a Red Cross young professionals group are highly encouraged to apply, as are young professionals with experience from external young professional groups, the private sector, or other relevant organizations.
The National Young Professionals Council seeks to build the capacity of the American Red Cross by engaging and supporting volunteers between the ages of 21 and 35. The Council leverages the work experience and broad skill sets of young professionals in order to further the mission of the American Red Cross. Additionally, this group provides advice and input to the Vice President of Volunteer Services and other senior leaders. The group is led by young professional volunteers, including national youth leadership alumni, local Red Cross leaders and club members, and subject matter experts in various areas.

Who we’re looking for
The ideal candidate for the National Young Professionals Council will be a young working professional 21 to 35 years old who has access to a network of young professionals (i.e. through work at a corporation, civic organizations, etc.), as well as experience in a Red Cross young professionals group. Those with experience forming a young professionals group and/or recruiting are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be registered Red Cross volunteers and comfortable working with peers via teleconferences and email.
What we offer
Serving on the National Young Professionals Council is an opportunity to build a unique skill set, strategize for the world’s largest humanitarian organization, implement national initiatives, and network with fellow young leaders and senior management of the American Red Cross. Members of the Council lead and partner with staff on developing and implementing strategic priorities that leverage young professionals across the country. For instance, the Red Cross saw Young Professionals donate over $150,000 in response to Hurricane Sandy. You will work side-by-side with a dynamic group of fellow young professionals who are passionate about serving others and dedicated to the mission of the American Red Cross.
All members will serve a two-year term starting in July 2015. They are expected to bring enthusiasm, dedication and creativity to the role. Membership on the National Young Professionals Council requires self-directed initiative and ability to collaborate with peers through remote work, participation in monthly conference calls, and attendance at National Young Professionals Council meetings that convene once or twice a year. Travel and accommodations for meetings will be covered by the American Red Cross. Members should be confident when speaking publicly and willing to share their Red Cross story with others.

- What unique skills and experiences you have that would make you a valuable asset to the National Young Professionals Council? Please highlight your Red Cross experience if applicable.
- How you envision increasing young professional engagement in the Red Cross nationally? Discuss specific tools or strategies you might suggest given your experience with other organizations, or within the Red Cross itself.
2. Your resume should include the following:

- Work history, volunteer experience, education, and Red Cross volunteer experience.
- You may also include any awards or honors received.
