CJCPCS’s Red Cross Club lends a helping holiday hand
In November 2015 Central Jersey College Prep Charter Schools’ Red Cross Club participated in the Holiday Mail for Heroes event as part of Nation Youth Involvement Month. The purpose of this event was to make holiday cards that would be sent out to veterans. As a part of this activity, the club hosted three events in which they allowed for the public the whole month of November to make cheerful holiday cards. Two of these events were hosted at the Franklin Township Library, one on 11/6 and the other on 11/14, and the third event at the Barnes and Noble branch in North Brunswick, NJ from 11/7 to 11/8 as part of their “Mini Maker Faire.” Moreover, the activity was held in 2 schools: Livingston Elementary School (Union, NJ) and Queen of all Saints Catholic Academy (Brooklyn, NY). In total, about 300 cards were sent.
Outside of NYIM, the CJCP Red Cross Club has taken place in fire safety canvassing events in the past, and has taught young children (K-1) about hand hygiene as part of the “Scrubby Bear” program.
The CJCP Red Cross Club is made up of 7 members: Akash Gokul (President), Raynaldo Perez (Vice President), Dhaval Patel (Treasurer), Ronim Anwar (Secretary), Bentley Addison (Project Director), and Arthur Silva (Board Liasion). Their advisor is Mr. Yildiz. The club was officially founded in December of 2014 and is part of the North Jersey Region.
