November Spotlight: Edmund Tang
Edmund Tang, a Disaster Action Team Coordinator, responded to the August CZU Lightning Complex fires.
Edmund Tang’s Red Cross journey began seven years ago when he joined the Walnut HS Red Cross Club. His experiences as a local and regional leader inspired him to continue volunteering in college and support youth as a Red Cross Club Coordinator.
Edmund also became heavily involved with Disaster Cycle Services. His role as a Disaster Action Team Coordinator recently brought him to the front lines of the CZU Lightning Complex fires. Initially, Edmund’s duties were to monitor the fire, prepare for a response, and talk to local fire department and county representatives. However, as the situation worsened, Edmund soon found himself working with volunteers from across the nation to set up shelters and organize evacuation efforts. Despite the stress, “seeing how much the Red Cross impacted the local community” kept him going.
Edmund encourages youth to explore Red Cross opportunities. “You never know where your journey will lead you, so take your time to see what’s out there.” Most importantly, “Have fun! I’ve made amazing memories with the Red Cross, and you can too.”
Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm, Edmund! Your contributions mean the world.
