Originally from Minnesota, Joe is now a junior at the George Washington University in Washington DC, studying International Affairs and Conflict. Joe’s Red Cross career began at the age of 15, when he led the effort to change the legal age of blood donation in his state. The “Joe Gibson Blood Bill” was signed into law a year later, and he began a three-year term as a regional Board of Directors member, which has since been extended to six years. Joe was appointed to the National Youth Council of the American Red Cross in 2010, and was appointed to a three-year term as Chair eight months later. His work with the United Nations began in 2009, when Joe founded the world’s largest UN Youth Delegate advocacy organization. In 2012, that organization successfully established the first UN Youth Delegate position in the United States, and he continues to act as an advisor for many UN related programs. In the summer of 2012, Joe became the first American in history to act as the Secretary-General of a tier-one European MUN. Joe can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
