Taylor Waters

Taylor WatersTaylor is a 20-year-old sophomore at East Carolina University, majoring in Elementary Education, with Middle Grades Additional Licensure with a concentration in Language Arts. From small town Sanford, North Carolina, Taylor has been working with the Red Cross for about three years. She began her Red Cross volunteer work as a participant in a program entitled Queen of Hearts , where high school girls raise funds for the Red Cross disaster services during the month of February; whoever raised the most money for the counties chapter of the Red Cross wins. After raising about $7,000 dollars Taylor went on to serve as an Intern at her local Red Cross, developed a male program adjacent to Queen of Hearts, became a youth program volunteer, and a first responder to the April 16th, 2011 tornadoes.

Since graduating high school, Taylor has become a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, Golden Leaf Scholar, and volunteer at the Red Cross in her college town, where she has worked heavily with SAF and to develop a university American Red Cross Club. In Greenville, North Carolina she was recently honored by being named East Carolina University’s volunteer of the year. This past year she was also honored as a Teen Nick ‘HALO’ award recipient.
